Can Ayo hack it with Converge?

CAN Aldin Ayo bring the same magic he had in the collegiate ranks to a different animal that is the PBA?

That question gnaws at Ayo, who was officially named new Converge coach vice Jeffrey Cariaso last Wednesday night, tasked to guide the pro league’s newest ballclub to great heights.

“Heading the team isn’t an achievement for me, it’s a responsibility. Rest assured, we’re going to do our best and hopefully, it’ll be enough to win us a championship,” Ayo said in a statement.

“In the PBA, everyone will be given the chance to be competitive because of the drafting. In terms of winning, aabot at aabot ka doon but the objective is how to achieve it the soonest,” he added.

Ayo took over at the helm of the young and athletic FiberXers that wound up as the seventh seed with a 5-6 mark in their maiden conference in the season-opening Philippine Cup.

Converge team owner Dennis Anthony Uy is pinning his hopes on Ayo.

“We are excited with what he brings to the table. We’ve had the chance to discuss the direction of our team and the vision that we have regarding our brand of play,” Uy said.
