REIGNING two-time champion Nazareth School of National University is out to keep its title dreams alive while Far Eastern University-Diliman is raring to redeem itself from a finals’ loss three years ago.
Which team will realize its lofty goal will be known when the Bullpups battle the Baby Tamaraws today for a berth in the Big Dance of the 85th UAAP juniors’ basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The do-or-die duel is set at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to the finals opposite No. 1 Adamson High School.
Game 1 of the best-of-3 title showdown is set on Tuesday, March 14, at the same venue.
NSNU dragged its Final Four clash with second-ranked and twice-to-beat FEU-D to a deciding match after scoring a 93-82 victory in the first game three days ago.
“Alam naman natin ang FEU-D sa Friday, talagang babawi sila. Let’s see,” Bullpups rookie coach Kevin De Castro said. “Ang sabi ko lang sa boys, nothing is impossible.”
The likes of Reinhard Jumamoy, Aga Clarito, Klein Tagotongan, and RJ Colonia will be counted upon by NSNU.
The Baby Tams will pin their hopes on VJ Pre, John Rey Pasaol, Dwyne Miranda, Kirby Mongcopa, and Liam Salangsang.
The Baby Falcons downed University of Santo Tomas 62-55 in their Final Four tiff also last Tuesday to reach the finals for the first time in 20 years.
