NATIONAL University salvaged a podium finish with an 85-77 win over Perpetual Help yesterday in the battle for third of the 2023 Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.
Jolo Manansala made the most of his chances in this bronze medal game, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists, as Patrick Yu top-scored for the Bulldogs with 16 points built on four treys off the bench in this tournament supported by Filoil, EcoOil, Hanes, Akari, BDO, Reyes BBQ, Kalos Sportswear, and Molten.
Omar John also churned out a double-double with 12 points, 13 boards, and three blocks in the win for for last year’s preseason champions.
“We tried to redeem ourselves and at least, nag-step up yung dapat mag-step up,” said coach Jeff Napa. “Syempre kahit papaano meron kaming na-achieve this offseason. But still, we’re not contented with where we are.”
Jielo Razon and Carlo Ferreras both scored 12 apiece for the Altas, the lone NCAA team to reach the Final Four.
Khem Sabsalon was crowned as the new Hanes 1-on-1 King of the Hardcourt, edging Ruzzel Dominguez for a thrilling 7-5 victory.
