NATIONAL University made short work of San Beda University 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 yesterday to reach the semifinals of the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena.
Open spiker Nico Almendras pumped in 13 points along with 14 excellent receptions and four digs for the Bulldogs, while middle blocker Mukaba Obed scored 11 markers.
Mike Buddin and Kennry Malinis tallied 10 and nine markers, respectively, while team captain Joshua Retamar tossed 15 excellent sets along with two points for NU.
“Okay naman iyong performance namin noong first two sets pero noong third set lang medyo nagka-problema lang kami sa service at receives namin although nakuha pa rin namin iyong panalo. Malaking bagay ito para sa darating na semifinals,” Bulldogs coach Dante Alinsunurin said.
“Siyempre, credit pa rin sa San Beda kasi nakita ko naman iyong sistema nila. Medyo nag-struggle sila noong una, lumalaban pa rin at dumidikit sila,” he added.
