SAMSUNG Galaxy launched early yesterday morning the first of its six running clinics on Ayala Boulevard as part of the build-up for the revived Samsung Galaxy Watch Manila Marathon set on Oct. 6 at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

“The turnout was quite encouraging. We gave them the basics before running, like the proper stretching and breathing exercises so that they can do their personal bests when the Manila International Marathon comes around,” said women’s national triathlete coach Annie de Leon Brown, who supervised the first clinic.

“This is just the first of six Samsung Watch Running Club clinics we will have before the Samsung Galaxy Watch Manila Marathon. We had around 500 registered runners, so we are so happy of the turnout,” said Run Rio general manager Andrew Neri.

“We are thrilled to be a partner of Samsung Galaxy for one of our flagship projects,” Neri added.

Samsung Philippines corporate marketing head Karee Quimson was also elated with the turnout of runners in the inaugural clinic, saying: “We’re happy with our collaboration with Run Rio as well as the turnout in our first clinic.

“With the help of our Samsung Galaxy fitness watches, hopefully these runners can unlock their best performance.”

“We are looking forward to the staging of the Manila Marathon in cooperation with Run Rio,” Quimson, a competitive triathlete, said.

Neri said that in cooperation with the Manila City government under Mayor Honey Lacuna and the Department of Tourism, “we hope that the Manila Marathon will be able to pass through Manila’s iconic destinations which is also in line with our goal of boosting sports tourism.”

Neri said the ultimate dream of Run Rio chief Rio dela Cruz “is that the Manila Marathon goes international so that it earns the same status as the Tokyo and New York Marathons.
