ROBYN Brown was back into the top 40 but Eric Cray slipped to No. 49 in the women’s and men’s 400-meter hurdles World Athletics Olympic qualifying ratings released last Wednesday by the world track body.

Brown, the reigning Asian women’s 400-meter hurdles queen, banked on her solid runner-up finish in the Johnny Loaring Classic meet in Windsor, Canada where she clocked 57.29 over the weekend to boost her bid of making her Olympic debut in Paris in July.

National teammate Lauren Hoffman slipped to No. 32 but was still safe among the top 40 hurdlers whose fate will be decided by the cut-off date on July 7.

Cray’s bid for a second trip to the Olympics after competing in the 2016 Rio Summer Games remained up in the air as he was still out of the magic 40 despite his second-place finish in his forte in the Johnny Loaring Classic.

Still very much in contention was Tokyo Olympian Kristina Knott, who was No. 39 in the women’s 200-meter ratings with 48 slots up for grabs, and John Caban Tolentino, whose status remained unchanged at No 28 in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with 40 berths available.

Crawling up to No. 37 in the men’s long jump was Janry Ubas but he will have to perform impressively in the remaining weeks before the cut-off date in an event that only has 32 tickets available, and the entry standard is 8.27 meters.

Ubas boasts of the national record of 8.08 meters set last year on the way to pocketing the silver medal in the men’s decathlon of the Cambodia Southeast Asian Games.
