Bossing make Rosser top pick

BLACKWATER tabbed big man Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser yesterday as the first pick overall in the PBA draft at Robinsons Place Manila.

The 6-foot-7 younger brother of TNT forward Matt is coming off a stint with the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad, which won a bronze medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi.

Jeremiah Gray went to Terrafirma at second, while Converge took a pair of big men in Jeo Ambohot and Justin Arana with its third and fourth selections.

Rain or Shine drafted former Ateneo skipper Gian Mamuyac at fifth, followed by JM Calma who was taken by NorthPort.

Tyrus Hill went to NLEX, Javi Gomez de Liaño to Ginebra, Kurt Lojera to the Bossing, Shaun Ildefonso to Rain or Shine, before Blackwater and Magnolia wound up with Mark Dyke and Keith Zaldivar, respectively in the proceedings held face-to-face for the first time after nearly three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arana, Mamuyac, Gomez de Liaño, and Ildefonso were earlier selected by Gilas coach Chot Reyes to be part of the national team training pool.

Former Letran big man Ato Ular was taken first in the second round, followed by Tyler Tio, formerly of Ateneo (Phoenix), Kameron Vales from University of Regina/San Jose College (Converge), Chris Lalata from Olivarez College (Phoenix), Jhonard Clarito from De Ocampo Memorial College and RJ Ramirez from Far Eastern University (Rain or Shine), Encho Serrano from La Salle (Phoenix), Jayson David of San Sebastian/Lyceum (Ginebra), Chester Saldua of Philippine Christian University (NLEX), Christian Fajarito of Letran (Meralco), and Carlo de Chavez of Bloomfield (Magnolia).
