Bianca way behind

BIANCA Pagdanganan played erratically for the third straight day yesterday (Saturday in the US), shooting a 74 and was tied with four others in 25th place in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the Sahalee Country Club course in Sammamish, Washington.

Pagdanganan had her worst outing with five bogeys — including four straight from hole Nos. 9 to 12 — against three birdies on the difficult par-72 6,731-yard layout located 33.7 kilometers east of Seattle.

She earlier shot consecutive rounds of 72 and was nine shots behind South Korean solo leader and US LPGA veteran Amy Yang, who is chasing her first Grand Slam win and held a two-stroke lead over American Laurent Hartlage and Japanese Miyu Yamashita after checking in with a 71-209.

It would likely be a tight scramble to the finish in the final round today (Sunday in the US) for the prestigious championship trophy and the mouth-watering top prize of $1.56 million (around P91.837 million) at stake in the tournament.

Former Pinay golf prodigy Dottie Ardina missed the halfway cut after scoring 75 in the opening round and 78 in the next.
