Bianca swings back into action

BIANCA Pagdanganan will be pining to get rid of her final-round jinx when she swings back into action today (Saturday in the US) in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Arkansas.

While making the cut in her last two outings and playing solidly for three straight rounds in both of them, Pagdanganan fell prey to last-round pressures that took her out of title contention.

This was underscored in the last Kroger Queen City Championship in Maineville, Ohio, where she came three shots of the lead entering the final day, only to collapse with a 75 at the close of the tournament, dragging her down to a tie for 29th place at the TPC River’s Bend course.

The long-hitting LPGA tour veteran can perhaps take heart that her latest golf championship is a 54-hole event over the par-71, 6,438-yard Pinnacle Country  Club course with a top prize of $450,000 (around P25.679 million) up for grabs.

With Thai world No. 1 JeenoThitikul opting out of the tourney, world No. 2 and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda, still in search of her first tour win in the season, looms as the top favorite.
