AFTER an encouraging finish in her previous tournament, Bianca Pagdanganan hopes to sustain her stride and tighten her grip on an Olympic ticket in the 79th US Women’s Open, women’s golf second major, unfolding today (Thursday in the US) at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Pagdanganan played steadily to break out of a prolonged slump and finished in a seven-way tie for seventh at the Mizuho Americas Open at the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey two weeks ago.
The 2019 Philippine Southeast Asian Games double gold medalist will need heightened consistency against the women’s golf elite at the tough par-70, 6,546-yard course overlooking Morecambe Bay. The tournament offers a top prize of $2.4 million, or a whopping P140.89 million.
