AFTER playing three straight solid rounds, Bianca Pagdanganan collapsed with a 78 yesterday (Sunday in the US) to plummet into a three-way tie for 62nd at the end of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give in Belmont, Michigan.
Tied for 19th entering the fourth and final round, Pagdanganan slid back to her erratic ways for her worst score on the par-72, 6,638-yard Blythefield Country Club course, typified by a triple bogey on the par four-hole No. 12, sandwiched by bogeys on Nos. 11 and 13, for a terrible three-hole stretch.
She finished with a tally of 286, worth $6,999 (about P410,778), 14 shots behind American Lilia Vu, who came back from two-month break from injury and rallied with a bogey-free 65 to tie compatriot Lexi Thomson and Australian Grace Kim at the end of regulation at 272.
Once ranked the world No. 1, Vu birdied the third playoff hole to beat her rivals and pocket the top prize of $450,000 (P26.4 million) and her fifth US LPGA tour title.
