After Rubilen Amit lost to Claudia Von Rohr 2-4, Biado came to the national team’s rescue by whipping Swiss players Ronald Regli and Dimitri Jungo by identical scores of 4-0.

Amit avenged her earlier loss to Von Rohr with a 4-2 triumph in their rematch to clinch win, sending the Philippines to a second-round clash with England, which blanked the United States 3-0.

The triumph softened the impact of the setback suffered by Amit in the Predator World 10-ball Women’s Championship being held simultaneously with the world team competition.

The former world 10-ball champion and Vietnam Southeast Asian Games double gold medalist bowed to Germany’s Ina Kaplan 5-7 and was relegated to the loser’s bracket.

Newly-crowned Asian 9-ball women’s champion Chezka Centeno fared better, beating Dutchwoman Elise Qiu 7-0 and German Chantal Sadler 7-2 in her first two matches.
