UNDEFEATED Angatleta Sports Bataan tries to sweep boys’ Pool A action when it squares off with De La Salle-Lipa today, Friday, in the last day of eliminations in the 2024 Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Under-18 Championship at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
The Bataan bets, holding a 4-0 record, are aiming to advance to the playoff round starting Saturday without a loss in the tournament organized by the PNVF headed by President Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
They will be facing second-running La Salle-Lipa (3-1) at 2:30 p.m.
In the other boys’ game in Pool A, Golden Whiskers Volleyball Club tries to keep its flickering playoff hopes alive when it meets winless Batangas Christian School (0-4) at 4pm.
The No. 5 Golden Whiskers, with a 1-3 record, are hoping to post their second win in five games to tie the No. 4 Philippine Christian University (PCU) at 2-3.
Umingan National High School also aims for a boys’ Pool B sweep when it goes up against Colegio de Los Baños (1-3) at 5:30 p.m. Umingan is leading Pool B with a 4-0 record, and is now waiting for its opponent in the playoffs.
Only the top four teams from each group will move to the knockout playoffs to be played under a regular best-of-five set format from a shortened three-set play in the ongoing preliminary round.
