Will this distract the Batang Pier?

ANOTHER NorthPort player is in hot water

Guard Fran Yu was involved in a fracas last Tuesday—not on the PBA hardwood but on the street.

Yu allegedly punched a barangay councilor over a parking violation at Barangay 350 in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The conflict allegedly started when the barangay official identified as Victorino Farrales approached Yu about his motorcycle, which he had parked in a restricted area.

Barangay chairman Efleda dela Cruz said she instructed the village councilor to find the motorcycle’s owner and inform him/her that parking there was prohibited.

CCTV footage showed Yu and the “kagawad” in a conversation outside a popular fast-food chain before the latter slipped into a gutter.

Yu purportedly pushed the councilor, but the former NCAA finals MVP out of Letran denied the allegation.

Akala noong kagawad, tinulak ko,” he added.

The pro league lowered the boom on Yu’s former teammate, John Amores, last October over a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.

The Games and Amusements Board revoked Amores’ pro license last December.

Farrales said he would press charges against Yu.

The Batang Pier will see action in the semifinals of the mid-season Commissioner’s Cup against the Ginebra Kings and this incident could be crucial in NorthPort’s title dreams.
