THE Uratex Dream made a surprising run to the finals of the 3X3 Basketball Thailand International League 2025 before settling for the runner-up honors this past weekend in Bangkok.
Without top gun Kaye Pingol, Paris Olympian Saicha Grant-Allen took charge for the Filipino club as the Dream gave it their all before bowing to hometown team CT Tigers 16-22.
Hazelle Yam and Sam Harada also played pivotal parts in Uratex’s run as they also had support from Japanese reinforcement ShinobuYoshitake.
The team first swept Pool C with a 21-13 victory over Shoot It Dragons of Thailand and a 21-12 win over Harimau Yellow of Malaysia to earn direct qualification in the quarterfinals.
The Dream would then dispose of Jumpshot Singapore 21-13 and fend off Shoot It Dragons anew 18-12 before falling to CT Tigers led by world No. 8 KhulanOnolbaatar of Mongolia in the finale.
Uncle Drew, composed of Trina Guytingco, Alexis Pana, and Korean imports Ji Young Kim and Lee Seul Shin, also made it to the semifinals of the invitational 3×3 tourney.
Despite going winless in pool play, the Philippine-based crew took down Sriracha Eagle 21-17 in the Last Eight before losing to the eventual champions 8-21.
