AS the battle in the 98th NCAA juniors’ basketball tournament gets tougher, Arellano University intends to keep its winning run going when it faces Mapua University today at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.

The Braves and the Red Robins clash at 7:30 a.m., followed by the tiff pitting Letran and Jose Rizal University at 9:30.

Halfway through the single-round eliminations, the Red Robins and the Squires currently lead the pack with identical 4-1 marks.

San Sebastian, La Salle Green Hills, Perpetual and Lyceum are in a four-way tie with 3-2 cards, followed by San Beda and JRU (2-3) and Arellano (1-4). EAC is still winless after five matches.

Last Friday, SJ Moore boosted the Braves to their maiden win and handed Letran its first loss 75-62.

“Although we’ve lost our first four games, hopefully we’ll be able to get more wins after our first win against Letran,” said the Filipino-American 6-foot-2 guard, the leading scorer for Arellano with 17.6 points per game and ranks fourth in the league.

Mapua absorbed its first loss 66-70 to the Lyceum Junior Pirates.
