KAI Sotto’s woes continue in the National Basketball League of Australia.
The 7-foot-3 center will sit out Adelaide’s match against Tasmania today at the MyState Bank Arena due to knee soreness.
Sotto, 19, has already missed the 36ers first two games of the season and seventh overall, counting four in the preseason.
Adelaide lost to the Perth Wildcats 73-85 last Friday, and its home debut against the Illawarra Hawks 71-81 last Sunday, as well as the last four outings in the preseason.
Sotto is bidding to become the first homegrown Filipino to gain an NBA foothold.
He was signed by the 36ers last April after a botched try to suit up for Ignite in the NBA G League.
Apart from Sotto, the CJ Bruton-mentored squad is also missing the services of the injured Sunday Dech (quadricep) but will have Emmanuel Malou back after sitting out Adelaide’s first two games due to knee soreness.
The likes of Daniel Johnson, Cameron Bairstow, and Dusty Hannahs will be counted upon by the 36ers as they gun for a breakthrough win.
Adelaide came off a seventh-place finish with a 13-23 card last year behind star Josh Giddey, who was chosen sixth overall by Oklahoma City in the NBA draft last July.
The NBL’s season was initially set to kick off on Nov. 18 but was mothballed due to travel issues and vaccination woes in Australia.
