Unheralded collegiate team Jose Maria College Foundation Inc. pushed Far Eastern University to its limits in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup play-in– something that Kings coach Dodong Cagampang is mighty proud of.
“Siyempre happy talaga kami dahil nagawa namin iyong mga inensayo namin. Kahit talo, masaya kami,” Cagampang said. “Tuwang-tuwa ako sa players namin kasi napakita ‘yung laro nila.
“Iyong experience ang pinakamalaking bagay sa amin para kung sakaling makabalik kami, makapaghanda kami nang maganda,” he added.
JMC, the representative from VisMin after ruling the Escandor Cup, fell short in their two-game series against the Tamaraws 65-96 before making it closer in an 80-90 defeat.
Christer Catarong, a 6-foot-2 forward who’s also the team’s skipper, is one of those who rose to the challenge and wound up with 24 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and two steals in their first duel.
