The reigning PBA MVP is just honored to be part of history, helping Gilas Pilipinas end a 61-year drought and claim the gold medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
“In awe and overjoyed,” Thompson exclaimed in an Instagram post. “Para sa mahal kong Pilipinas.”
The Ginebra point guard was one of those driving forces for the Philippines, with his steady playmaking allowing Gilas to take down the continent’s giants, from Iran in the quarterfinals, that remarkable comeback win against China in the semifinals, and the title-clinching victory against Jordan in the gold medal game.
Inspired by his wife Jinky and son Aster, Thompson is also hoping to share the glory through his signature shoe line ST1 by World Balance as he re-released his highly in-demand “The Shot” colorway.
