ONE can’t serve two masters at the same time.

Lyceum coach Topex Robinson will have a tough choice to make after he was named interim coach of Phoenix Super LPG in the PBA.

According to the NCAA rules that 96th season Management Committee chairman Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, of Letran furnished to Malaya-Business Insight yesterday, calling the shots in the NCAA and in any pro league at the same time is not allowed by the country’s oldest collegiate league.

“Head coaches presently coaching in any professional league shall not be allowed to coach in any NCAA Sports tournament,” the rule stated.

“Any coach who becomes a coach of a team not belonging to the NCAA league is prohibited to coach a team playing against the NCAA selection unless permitted by the NCAA Management Committee. Violation of this provision will be subject to sanctions by the ManCom.”

With the country’s COVID-19 pandemic woes having no end in sight, the NCAA is eyeing to launch its new season early next year, which means Robinson, 45, can still coach the Fuel Masters in the PBA’s plan of resuming its drastically disrupted 45th season with a one-conference tourney in Oct. 9.
