WITH its line-up now complete, the work only gets tougher from here for Strong Group.

Former Ateneo standout Chris Koon was tapped to boost Strong Group for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship set from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2.

Koon, a 6-foot-5 guard, played his final collegiate season in the last UAAP cage wars where he averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists per game.

His inclusion marks the beginning of his pro career with Strong Group.

Strong Group coach Charles Tiu welcomed Koon’s addition to the quintet bankrolled by billionaire sports patron Frank Lao.

“He has good size as a wing (player), can shoot, can defend. I think he will be a good role player for us,” Tiu said. “We all know he’s been well coached and comes from a great school and program so, it’s good to have him,”

Tiu’s squad boasts of a blend of local and international cagers.

Also part of the Athletics team are Mikey Williams, Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, Jason Brickman, Angelo Kouame, Andray Blatche, NCAA MVP Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez.

The team is also beefed up by American imports DeMarcus Cousins, Malachi Richardson, and Terry Larrier.

Strong Group finished as bridesmaid in last year’s edition of the Dubai tourney, losing to Al-Riyadi 74-77 on Ismail Abdelmoneim’s three-pointer at the buzzer.
