NASH Racela is officially back as chief tactician in the UAAP.
Adamson University formally announced last Wednesday it tapped Racela as new Soaring Falcons coach.
“For months, countless rumors have swirled about his next destination after his exit from his previous team,” the school said in a statement.
“Now, we confirm and announce that Mr. Raoul Cesar “Nash” Racela, a UAAP champion coach and a proven bench tactician, has landed in San Marcelino.”
Over in the NCAA, College of Saint Benilde also announced that it has named erstwhile assistant coach Charles Tiu new Blazers tactician. Tiu takes over from TY Tang, who immigrated to Canada with his family last September.
Tiu won titles as coach of Go for Gold in the PBA D-League, Mighty Sports in the 2019 Jones Cup in Taiwan, and the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Championship.
Racela’s work ethic proved to be among the keys in getting the job.
“His excellent track record in the collegiate and professional ranks were indeed considered,” the statement added.
“However, the main telling point is that his fatherly and gentle demeanor and coaching style fits the direction that we want for our men’s basketball program.”
Racela, who also called the shots for TNT, was handed the pink slip by Blackwater after the Bossing lost 19 straight games, including a 0-13 card in the last Philippine Cup in Bacolor, Pampanga.
