THE PBA is bent on giving Gilas Pilipinas a much-needed shot in the arm in the squad’s coming international campaigns.

Gilas team manager Butch Antonio said the pro league remains committed in helping the Nationals despite their taxing schedule.

“The PBA is very much supportive of the program that the SBP has put forth, lalo na with Chot back, appointed as head coach,” Antonio said in the online show SEAG Network.

“There will be four more windows (of the Asian qualifiers) all the way up to February (2023). There will be two SEA Games, this year in May and next year in May also, there will be an Asian Games this year, there will be a FIBA Asia Cup this year,” he added.

Coach Chot Reyes has already submitted a 30-man wish list, a mix of PBA players and Gilas standouts, to Commissioner Willie Marcial.

The matter will be tackled in the PBA Board of Governors in its next regular board meeting.

Opting to field in collegiate standouts is unlikely since the 97th NCAA and 84th UAAP cage wars are set to kick off this month and will run up to May.

Antonio said the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and the PBA will work together to form the best team possible for the World Cup next year.
