RARING to prove his worth in the United States anew, former University of the Philippines star forward Kobe Paras has buckled down to work.
Paras worked out with former Far Eastern University-Diliman high school standout Cholo Anonuevo in The Smith League in Cincinnati, Ohio.
“Another dope session last night,” The Smith League posted on its Instagram account yesterday with a photo of Paras.
The 6-foot-6 Paras chose to leave the Fighting Maroons and signed up with East West Private, the same firm that handles a slew of Filipino players in the US, including Anonuevo and 7-foot-3 center Kai Sotto.
Paras was committed to stay with UP and help the Maroons end a 35-year title drought but the uncertainty of the UAAP 84th season prompted him to pack his bags.
The UAAP is eyeing to launch its new season in September should it get the green light from the government.
That plan, however, seems unlikely, especially since an end to the country’s COVID-19 pandemic woes nowhere in sight.
Backed by Chooks-to-Go which he has represented as its brand ambassador, Paras took a flight to Los Angeles, California before heading to Cincinnati, Ohio last April 14 where he would toughen up full-time under EWP.
Paras last saw action for Gilas Pilipinas in the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in Manama, Bahrain last November.
