THE newly-formed Philippine Wheelchair Basketball Federation will conduct a two-day wheelchair basketball referees clinic starting tomorrow at the Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College Gym in Concepcion Uno, Marikina.

National para coach and PWBF board member Vernon Perea said conducting the clinic is former Australian international basketball referee Matthew Wells, a member at large of the International Basketball Wheelchair Basketball Federation Executive Council.

“This is the first activity of the newly-SEC registered Philippine Wheelchair Basketball Federation where the participants will be updated on wheelchair basketball officiating, physical contacts and rules,” Perea said.

“We will have about 30 participants each during the two-day clinic as we aim to upgrade our wheelchair basketball referees on the latest rules and trends in the sport,” the coach said.

The bespectacled mentor added they formed the PWBF to have a more organized structure and draw more aspiring wheelchair basketball players to the sport. — Bong Pedralvez
