REIGNING two-time UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao of La Salle has called it a career in the collegiate ranks and will bring his act overseas.

Eyeing to pursue his NBA dream, Quiambao is taking his talents to the Goyang Sono SkyGunners of Korean Basketball League.

A day after Quiambao and the Green Archers yielded a sorry 62-66 decision to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in sudden death Game 3 of their title battle in the 87th UAAP basketball tournament, Quiambao bade La Salle goodbye.

In a social media post, the 6-foot-7 forward expressed his gratitude to his family, coaches, teammates, and the whole Lasallian Community.

“Thank you for three wonderful seasons, a lot of sweat, tears and sacrifices. Thank you for making me a great student-athlete,” Quiambao said. “To my teammates and the whole coaching staff and management, I can’t thank you enough for unwavering support. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to reach my potential. I am so grateful and blessed to have you guys.

“With that being said, my college career comes to an end, I will pursue my NBA dream and start my journey by playing professional ball in Goyang Sono SkyGunners and developing my game even more,” he added.

Quiambao, also member for the Gilas Pilipinas national team training pool, bagged numerous  accolades in his time for the Archers—a crown in the 86th season, a finals MVP, Mythical Team selections in seasons 86th and 87th, and Rookie of the Year plum in the 85th season.

Those were of course aside from being named best player of the league the past two cage wars.

“We just thanked him. Thanked him for his service. You know, it is what it is. Hindi naman ito sorpresa that this might be his final season but we prepared well for this and what—it just gave us until that final buzzer and never give up,” Archers coach Topex Robinson said.

“He will always be remembered as one of the great Lasallian, you know, I guess one of the best that ever wore that jersey.”
