STILL smarting from a close defeat to Ginebra, Alaska tries to bounce back when it battles a lethal TNT crew just as determined to crack the winners’ circle today in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In the nightcap, Ginebra tries to improve on its shaky season debut when it tangles with a NorthPort crew trying to deal with its own problems.
According to a source, the Batang Pier are currently looking for a replacement for import Cameron Forte, who is nursing a knee injury and would be out indefinitely.
“Nag-meeting na management and coaching staff and maybe later today or tomorrow meron ng decision on who to get as a replacement import,” said the insider.
“May enough time naman, kasi ang game against Ginebra is supposedly the team’s last for the year so may enough time to get the new import in and familiarize him with the team,” added the source.
With Forte on the sideline, NorthPort lost to San Miguel Beer 88-91 last Sunday and is sure to come out with at least the same fire to end the year with a breakthrough win on its fourth try.
It would surely take a lot of doing since Ginebra is on a high following a come-from-behind 80-77 win over Alaska in the defending champion’s first game last Sunday.
What’s more, coach Tim Cone said his Kings are sure to get much better with more games and practices as the conference progresses.
