AND now it’s Joshua Munzon.
Terrafirma shipped the athletic wingman to NorthPort for forward Kevin Ferrer in a one-on-one trade that was approved by PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial yesterday.
With the move, the Dyip have lost another former No. 1 pick in the draft after they traded the rights to Christian Standhardinger six years ago and CJ Perez in 2018.
Terrafirma also let go of Roosevelt Adams, its top choice in the 2019 proceedings, after the Fil-Am forward didn’t sign a contract extension with the Dyip as a restricted free agent.
Under the trade, the initial proposal was Terrafirma will send Munzon and Javi Gomez de Liaño to the Batang Pier for Ferrer, MJ Ayaay, and a couple of future second-round selections.
The 6-foot-4 Munzon, tabbed first overall in 2021, averaged a career-best 19.0 points to go with 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.3 steals in last year’s Governors Cup.
His numbers dropped to 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in the season-opening Philippine Cup and 8.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 steals in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Ferrer, a former University of Santo Tomas standout and six-year veteran, was good for 9.4 points and 2.4 rebounds for NorthPort this season.
The Mikee Romero-owned ballclub also dealt guard Jerrick Balanza to Converge for wingman Allyn Bulanadi last week.
Bulanadi was sent to San Miguel Beer a few days later in exchange for Paul Zamar and a second-round draft pick.
Gomez de Liaño will play for his second team in his rookie season.
A former University of the Philippines mainstay who saw action in the Japan B. League, Gomez de Liaño was initially picked No. 8 by Ginebra in the last draft. He was sent to the Dyip along with Brian Enriquez for the rights on No. 2 pick Jeremiah Gray.
The Batang Pier wound up with a 6-6 card in the import-spiced tilt for sixth and lost to the Kings 0-2 in their quarterfinals duel.
Terrafirma finished dead-last in the mid-season tourney with a 1-11 slate.
