WITH its back as the bullseye target in the 87th UAAP basketball tournament set to start in September, reigning champion La Salle is making good use of its stints in pre-season meets to toughen up.
That includes Green Archers coach Topex Robinson tinkering with his rotation that nearly cost them a finals slot in the Filoil EcoOil 17th ECJ Pre-season Cup.
“I almost lost my job there if that one got through. But you play these pre-season tournaments to learn,” Robinson said. “It’s a gamble on my part to play the guys that don’t usually see the floor.
“They had the chance to prove themselves and those are the gambles that I will always take,” he added.
Robinson spoke after his wards essayed a 91-87 decision over the Letran Knights in the semifinals of the premiere off-season tilt three days ago and forged a one-game title match with University of the Philippines today.
