UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help went to Jan Pagulayan and Amiel Acido in the clutch and escaped with a 91-90 victory over Letran yesterday to force a deciding Game Three in the NCAA Season 99 juniors’ basketball title match at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
Pagulayan fired a game-high 23 points while Acido erupted for 19, including 14 in the second half, when the Jr. Altas turned it around, completed a comeback to remember and stole the win that knotted the count at 1-1 and sent the series into a decider this Saturday.
In Game 3, UPHSD will have a shot at breakthrough high school cage championship that should be remembered for ages.
“Puso na lang ‘yung kanina,” said emotional UPHSD coach Johp Cleopas.
