CONVERGE assistant coach Danny Ildefonso has paid a dear price in his bid to protect the career of his son, Dave.
The PBA meted a P20,000 fine on the PBA great after his social media comments over allegations of a “farm team.”
Nadala lang siya sa emotion sa mga nakikita niyang post ng mga netizen tungkol sa anak,” pro league chief Willie Marcial said after summoning Ildefonso on the heels of the FiberXers’ 96-95 decision over the TNT Tropang Giga last Tuesday night in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Ildefonso came to the defense of Dave, tabbed fifth overall by NorthPort in the last rookie Draft, after a fan said on Facebook that his son should be banned by the league for not yet signing with the Batang Pier.
Marcial said he and the former San Miguel Beer star, who won two MVP awards in a 17-year stint in Asia’s pioneering pro league, did not discuss those comments.
A former Ateneo standout, the 6-foot Dave saw action for Suwon KT Sonicboom in the Korean pro league but was left without offers, prompting him to return home and try his luck in the PBA.
