GILAS Pilipinas simply had no answer to Jordan’s firepower.

The cold-shooting nationals dropped a 74-84 loss to the Jordanians early morning yesterday in their semifinal duel in the King Abdullah Cup at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Amman.

The defeat relegated the all-amateur Philippine five to the battle for third against Tunisia last night at the same venue.

Jordan also handed Gilas a 72-84 setback in their elimination match last Saturday.

Naturalized player Ange Kouame was the lone bright spot for Gilas with 20 points, to go with 16 rebounds but got little support from the rest of his teammates.

Jordan Heading chipped in nine markers, while Dave Ildefonso and Thirdy Ravena had eight apiece as Gilas shot a woeful 7-of-28 from beyond the arc for a measly 25-percent clip.

Aside from Kouame, Heading, Ravena, and Ildefonso, Dwight Ramos, Justine Baltazar, Rey Suerte, Carl Tamayo, skipper Isaac Go, Geo Chiu, Mike Nieto, RJ Abarrientos, SJ Belangel, and William Navarro are part of the squad.
