PHILIPPINE Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo yesterday said that national para swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Mae Otom have qualified for the Paris Paralympic Games in August through the Minimum Qualification Standard Slot Allocation Method.
Barredo said that World Para Swimming Head Craig Nicholson formally notified the PPC last Feb. 16 that it had given a slot each to one male and female swimmer, which in this case are Gawilan and Otom, based on their world rankings in their respective events.
“On behalf of World Para Swimming, I hereby officially notify your NPC (National Paralympic Committee) Philippines has received the following qualification slots for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games after the Standard Slot Qualification Allocation Method,” Nicholson wrote.
