OUT to redeem itself from a so-so campaign the last time out with returning coach Chot Reyes at the helm, TNT has bolstered its frontline by acquiring big man Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser in a three-team trade with NLEX and Blackwater.
Under the second part of a three-way pact, Ganuelas-Rosser was shipped by the Bossing to the Tropang Giga for Jaydee Tungcab, Justin Chua, and TNT’s first-round draft pick in the PBA’s 51st season.
Ganuelas-Rosser, who was tabbed first overall by Blackwater two years ago, was initially dealt to the Bossing by NLEX for Ato Ular, Yousef Taha, and the Bossing’s first-round choice three seasons from now.
PBA chief Willi Marcia gave the three-team pact the green light yesterday.
Ganuelas-Rosser should come in handy for the Tropang Giga, who were ravaged by injuries to JP Erram and Chua last conference.
The former 3×3 star wasn’t spared injuries as well during the Commissioner’s Cup, playing in just five games with the Road Warriors, averaging 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks.
The trade reunites Ganuelas-Rosser with his older brother Matt at TNT.
Blackwater got Tungcab, a former Gilas special draft pick, who saw limited minutes with the Tropang Giga and averaged just 2.1 points per game. Chua last played for the TNT last season.
Meanwhile, the pro league revised the schedule for the season-opening Philippine Cup.
Blackwater takes on Meralco and TNT clashes with Rain or Shine in the opener tomorrow at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The opening games of the revised schedule will now feature the debut of James Yap and Rey Nambatac with their new team as the Bossing battle the Bolts.
Yap, 42, was signed by the Bossing after being released by Rain or Shine during the off-season.
