For Hotshots, a sweep is one big accomplishment

WHILE the regular seasons will only kick off on Oct. 15, Magnolia has no plans of keeping its feet off the pedal in the pre-season.

The Hotshots, in fact, want nothing but to complete a sweep of the pro league’s exhibition series, according to coach Chito Victolero.

“Every game naman, ang goal namin is to win. Alam naman namin na ang talagang labanan sa October pero iyong preparation namin nag-start na with this tournament,” Victolero said. “Kumbaga, we’re very committed doon sa ginagawa namin sa practice. Kasi nga ang sabi ko nga sa kanila, total nag-e-ensayo na tayo, nagpapagaling na tayo, then let’s be committed to this.

“Let’s work as a team na talagang iyong commitment natin na gumaling, mag-progress, mag-improve, gawin na natin ngayon,” he added.

Magnolia tries to finish its campaign with a flourish when it takes on Terrafirma today in the PBA On Tour at The Arena in San Juan.

The match is set at 5 p.m., with Victolero’s squad bidding to wind up with an unbeaten 11-0 mark in their final tiff in the extended pre-season.

NLEX battles TNT in the nightcap at 7:30.

“We play our practices like our pre-season games. Seryoso kami sa laro kasi araw-araw nag-e-ensayo kami tapos pagdating ng games hindi namin se-seryosohin?” posed Victolero after the Hotshots downed Phoenix 111-91 three days ago that hiked their card to 10-0.

“Kaya talagang very proud ako sa mga players ko kasi bearing o non-bearing (games) talagang lalaruin nila.”
