BUOYED by another lopsided win the last time out, reigning two-time champion Nazareth School of National University intends to stretch its winning run to 4-0 this season and 31-0 overall since 2018.

The Bullpups’ resolve will be tested anew when they battle winless University of the East today in the 85th UAAP juniors’ basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The match is set at 4 p.m. after Adamson University seeks a third straight victory against University of the Philippines Integrated School at 2 o’clock.

Ateneo High School collides with University of Santo Tomas at 11 a.m., while La Salle Zobel faces Far Eastern University-Diliman in the curtain-raiser at 9 a.m.

NSNU coach Kevin De Castro will bank on Reinhard Jumamoy, RJ Colonia, Aga Clarito, and Pervi Timbang in the Bullpups’ bid to score a fitting follow up to a 79-63 ripping of the Blue Eagles three days ago.

The Junior Red Warriors lost for the third time in a row 58-72 to the Junior Archers last Sunday that dropped them to 0-3.

UE will pin its hopes on Yuri Doque and Drei Gragasin.

“Ang sabi ko sa kanila, to be able to beat that team… that good of a team with a good coaching staff, with a good system, kailangan defensively we have to compete,” Baby Falcons tactician Mike Fermin said after his troops edged the Baby Tams 73-71 three days ago.

Adamson will rely on Peter Rosillo and Vince Reyes in its attempt to improve its 2-1 card and break a three-way tie with FEU-D and the Tiger Cubs.

The Junior Fighting Maroons absorbed a 64-90 shellacking at the hands of UST last Sunday.
Kobe Demisana will spearhead UPIS’ drive to raise its 1-2 slate.
