WILL his numbers be enough?
Four years after he was drafted third overall, NorthPort gunner Robert Bolick is now close to winning a coveted individual award in the PBA.
The 6-foot-1 guard leads the race for the Governors Cup Best Player of the Conference after tallying 39.9 statistical points, while being the pacesetter in scoring with 21.8 points, 8.8 assists and 2.2 steals, also league-bests.
But Bolick is expected to be hard-pressed after the Batang Pier failed to make it past the eliminations.
Phoenix Super LPG main man Matthew Wright, TNT super rookie Mikey Williams, and NLEX guard Kevin Alas trail Bolick for the conference’s highest honor.
Wright is second in the BPC derby with 34.9 SPs after leading the Fuel Masters into the quarterfinals of the season-ending tourney by holding off NorthPort in their knockout match.
Williams, one of the key players of the third-ranked Tropang Giga, is third with 33.9 SPs behind a second-best 21.4-point average.
The winner of the finals MVP award in the last Philippine Cup, the shifty Williams is also a candidate for the season MVP trophy.
Alas is at No. 4 with 33.55 SPs propped up by leading the Road Warriors to the No. 2 seed in the quarters.
Former MVP and veteran forward Arwind Santos is running fifth with 33.50 SPs. He posted big numbers of 17.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and a league-best 1.8 blocks in his maiden conference with the Batang Pier after he was traded by San Miguel Beer for Vic Manuel.
Scottie Thompson of defending champion Ginebra is at No. 6 with 33.3 SPs, followed by reigning six-time MVP June Mar Fajardo of the Beermen with 32.5 SPs and a league-leading 11.2-rebound average.
