KAYE Pingol sees Gilas Pilipinas Women 3×3’s participation in the Women’s Series as a step in the right direction in the continued development of the sport in the country.

“It was an amazing experience playing in that kind of level,” said the top-ranked women’s 3×3 player in the country. “For us, playing there was already a win para sa women’s basketball sa Pilipinas.”

Pingol, together with Hazelle Yam, Sam Harada, and Allana Lim, carried the flag in Ulaanbaatar as the quartet reached the quarterfinals in their WSeries debut.

It was a solid first dip, but also an eyeopener as it exposed the Filipinos to the higher level that they need to be considered world-class.

“Iba yung pisikalan ng game, iba yung hawakan at hawian lalo na mas maliit kami kaya dehado talaga. Pero with that experience, at least alam na naming at na-feel na naming yung level ng laro doon at di talaga siya basta-basta,” Pingol said.

As solid as the trip was, the Uratex Dream standout admitted that the stint left them wanting more.

“We fell short sa goal na gusto namin pero we are just getting started,” she said. “We’re able to show off what we got at paghahandaan pa namin yung mga next stop.”
