WILL Tab Baldwin stay as Gilas Pilipinas coach? The answer is unknown, for now.

The American-New Zealander tactician heaped praises on the all-amateur Philippine five for what he described as “a great tour, a great campaign” in the recent King Abdullah Cup where Gilas finished fourth overall.

“A great tour, a great campaign in 2021… so far and most importantly, a truly outstanding group of young men,” Baldwin said during dinner with his charges at the Copacabana Brazilian Steak House in Amman, Jordan where stories were shared over meat and wine.

“Until we meet again. . . soon,” he added.

Baldwin was tapped by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas last month to call the shots anew for the nationals in the third window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in a bubble in Clark and in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.

The multi-titled strategist of reigning three-time UAAP champion Ateneo admitted his job is not secured.

“This is a program, and again, it is fluid. There will be ongoing decisions made on what we believe SBP, myself, coach Ryan (Gregorio), what we believe is best for the program,” Baldwin, who is also Gilas program director, said last month.

“So, nothing is set in stone. Nobody has a right to any of these positions.”

Former TNT active consultant Marck Dickel coached Gilas on an interim basis in the first window, while Jong Uichico handled the team in the second window.
