FAR Eastern University-Diliman gave a grieving coach Allan Albano some solace with an emphatic victory over University of the East yesterday.
The Baby Tamaraws dumped the Junior Red Warriors 116-80 for their second straight win in the 85th UAAP juniors’ basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
John Rey Pasaol shone for FEU-D with 27 points, on top of seven rebounds, and four assists, while Jedric Daa chipped in 12 markers, nine boards and two dimes.
Dwayne Miranda, Luke Felipe, and VJ Pre also had 11, 11, and 10 points, respectively for the Baby Tams, who scored a big follow up to an 85-50 thrashing of Ateneo High School four days ago and moved to 2-0.
UE came off a 94-101 overtime loss to University of the Philippines Integrated School last Sunday and fell to 0-2.
“Dine-dedicate namin itong game na ito sa father ni coach Allan (Albano) who passed away yesterday (Tuesday),” FEU-D assistant coach Denok Miranda, who called the shots for the team in lieu of Albano, on the same day he was named new Tamaraws tactician, said.
“Medyo mataas ang score, naka-80 ang UE. Ang goal talaga namin is defense, iyon ang pina-prioritize namin,” he added.
