DEFENDING champion EcoOil-La Salle took to heart the lessons learned from a numbing loss the last time out and vented its ire on Philippine Sports Performance yesterday.

With wingman EJ Gollena providing the much-needed spark, the Green Archers dismantled the Gymers 108-67 to get back on track in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The 6-foot-3 Gollena, a transferee from Lyceum, scattered 17 points, on top of three rebounds for EcoOil-La Salle, while Mark Nonoy and Raven Cortez chipped in 14 markers each.

Evan Nelle also had 13 points, while JC Macalalag, Earl Abadam, Bright Nwanko, and Michael Phillips tallied 12, 12, 12, and 10, respectively for the short-handed Archers.

Earlier, Perpetual Help made mincemeat of AMA Online, scoring a 101-57 rout for its second straight win and the early solo lead.

La Salle missed the services of Kevin Quiambao, CJ Austria, Joshua David and Francis Escandor due to their UAAP 3×3 stints but welcomed back Gilas Pilipinas national training pool member Phillips.

Gilas took a short breather from its training camp in Calamba for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games that paved the way for the availability of Phillips and his brother Ben. They return to national duties today.

The Archers made up for an 89-92 defeat to Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda University three days ago and improved to 2-1.
