The Road Warriors officially signed Amer to a new contract yesterday in their bid to boost their backcourt led by prolific guard Robert Bolick.

“The NLEX Road Warriors proudly announce the addition of seasoned point guard Baser Amer to their roster on Monday evening, marking a significant move during the team’s four-day camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna,” NLEX said on its social media accounts yesterday.

The 6-foot Amer, a former four-time NCAA champion with the Red Lions who won a title under Road Warriors coach Frankie Lim in his rookie year, is the sixth San Beda player of NLEX, linking up with Bolick, Anthony Semerad, Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, and Clint Doliguez.

“Masaya ako na makasama sila coach Frankie (Lim) at mga iba pang Bedista dito sa NLEX.

Gagawin ko ang best ko para makuha namin iyong championship,” Amer said.

Present at the signing held two nights back during the third day of the team’s four-day camp at Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna were NLEX President Jose Luigi L. Bautista, team governor Ronald Dulatre, team manager Larry Fonacier, and Lim.

A nine-year pro, Amer moved to the Road Warriors after parting ways with Blackwater early this month.

Amer also suited up for the squad in the PBA D-League where he played a big role in steering the Road Warriors to three crowns.

In just five games in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Amer averaged 4.2 points as the Bossing chose to go with the younger guard rotation of Rey Suerte, RK Ilagan, and James Kwekuteye.

Amer, 31, is expected to bolster NLEX in the Philippine Cup after the Road Warriors wound up with a 4-7 record in the season-opening meet.

“His addition to the NLEX roster not only strengthens the team’s backcourt but also brings a sense of familiarity, as it marks a homecoming for Amer,” NLEX said.

“The NLEX Road Warriors anticipate that Amer’s experience, skills, and commitment will contribute significantly to the team’s success in the upcoming PBA All-Filipino Conference.”
