UNSCATCHED in two starts, Perpetual Help coach Myk Saguiguit is not one to fell giddy on his charges’ chances against a fellow streaking squad in Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda University.

“Kailangan handa kami against Marinero-San Beda,” Saguiguit said. “Our next coming games, ito na talaga ityong mga established na school-based teams so dapat preparado kami nang maigi.”

The Altas try to extend their unbeaten run to three when they tackle the Red Lions today in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The match is set at 4 p.m. after Philippine Sports Performance faces winless AMA Online in the curtain-raiser at 2 o’clock.

The Las Piñas-based quintet mangled the Gymers 101-57 last Thursday and will pin their hopes on Arthur Roque, Jielo Razon, Cyrus Nitura, Carlo Ferreras and Mark Omega.

“It’s a good thing that we’re winning games like these, iyong mga dikdikan. Against Perpetual, it’s another tough game,” Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda tactician Yuri Escueta said after his team scored a heart-stopping 90-87 squeaker over Wangs Basketball @27 Striker-Letran two days ago that improved its card to 2-1.

“Ito rin naman iyong dahilan bakit kami sumali sa D-League. We expect to face some of the toughest competitions.”

Yukien Andrada, who drilled the game-winner against the Knights, and Peter Alfaro, the hero over defending champion EcoOil-La Salle, and Jacob Cortez are expected to carry the fight for the Lions anew.
