SQUASH chief Robert Bachmann was re-elected unopposed last Tuesday as president of the Southeast Asian Squash Federation during the regional body’s online meeting held among eight members.
“Mr. Rober Bachmann of the Philippines has been re-elected as (SEASF) president, setting the stage for an exciting chapter in the history of squash in Southeast Asia,” the organization’s website reported shortly after the polls.
“Bachmann’s dedication and passion for the sport of squash has been the driving force behind his re-election and this resounding endorsement signified that he will continue to steer the ship, ensuring the growth and success of squash in Southeast Asia,” added the report.
Also re-elected vice presidents were Brigitta Kijono of Indonesia and Thailand’s Akarin Hiranprueck while Malaysia’s Jang Adnan and Tang Ming Jen of Singapore were elected as two new VPs and members of the management committee.
The SEASF is made up of Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
“I would like to thank the SEASF members in giving yours truly a fresh mandate at an exciting time for the sport that will finally make its debut in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games,” Bachmann. “With this mind, we intend to vigorously promote and develop squash within our region and beyond our borders.
