Appmasters triumph

LIMITLESS typified its team name and realized a lofty goal yesterday.

Proving steadier down the stretch, the Appmasters scored a thrilling 14-13 decision over gritty TNT to bag the crown in the fifth leg of the PBA 3×3 Lakas ng Tatlo at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Jorey Napoles and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser combined in the waning minutes of the title match to lift the Phoenix Super LPG franchise to its first crown in the three-a-side tilt.

Rosser finished with five points, while Napoles and Reymar Caduyac chipped in four apiece for Limitless.

Marvin Hayes’ basket completed the triumph worth P100,000.

Appmasters coach Willy Wilson gave all the credit to his charges, saying: “All the credit goes to the players. They worked hard. All I did was give them the game plan.”

Limitless became the fifth different squad to win a leg title after the Tropang Giga, Meralco, Sista, and Purefoods.

The Appmasters lost their final pool match against the Titans 14-19 but got their acts together in time during the knockout stage, edging Platinum Karaoke in the quarterfinals 15-14 and turning back the Bolts in the semis 20-14 to reach a breakthrough finals stint.

TNT took home the runner-up prize of P50,000, was foiled in its bid to become the first team to win two leg titles in the halfcourt tourney.
