GOING outside the box is doing wonders so far in the young and thriving pro career of Jack Animam with Radnicki in the First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia.

“This league has really challenged me to go out of my comfort zone. Kung magaling ako sa low post, pero siyempre, iyong ibang team mai-scout ka so you have to be more creative on how you get your score or how you can help your teammates or how you can attack the basket,” Animam said on Radyo5 92.3 News FM’s Power and Play program hosted by former PBA Commissioner Noli Eala.

“Talagang doon mo makikita kung hanggang saan iyong versatility mo as a player and how you adjust right away,” she added.

The 6-foot-5 Animam admitted opposing teams are trying hard to stifle her.

“Siguro tinitingnan nila kung kaya ko bang makipagsabayan,” Animam said.

“Noong nakita nila na palaban pala, ngayon grabe na ang depensa nila sa akin.”

Turning 23 last Saturday, Animam is averaging 20.3 points, 14.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for her squad.

Out to prove her worth as the first homegrown Filipina player to suit up in Europe, Animam said the best is yet to come.

“There are days na kahit ako sa sarili ko, nakukulangan ako sa effort na ibinibigay ko. Hindi pa rin ako satisfied. But I can only control how I respond and react on certain situations and how I perform,” Animam said. “Maybe, I’m too hard on myself. Pressure will always be there, so para sa akin, what I need to do is be there, show up, at gawin iyong role ko.”
