PETRO Gazz yesterday tapped Timmy Sto. Tomas as its new coach for the PVL’s season-ending All-Filipino conference in October.
The Angels welcomed Sto. Tomas, who replaced Oliver Almadro.
This will be the first time that Sto. Tomas, also the tactician of the Ateneo men’s volleyball team, will be handling a pro squad.
The youthful coach was an assistant coach for the Angels since the arrival of Almadro earlier this year and was also Almadro’s deputy at the Blue Eagles in 2018.
In a statement from Almadro posted by the team, he said that the Angels are “in good hands” and that Sto. Tomas deserved his appointment.
“I extend a warm welcome to coach Timmy as he steps into the role of the Petro Gazz Angels new head coach. From being my player and a longtime assistant and sharing in our triumphs and setbacks, we’ve both gained invaluable insights.”
“The team is in good hands and I’m very happy for his well-deserved appointment.”
Petro Gazz is looking to reach the podium anew in the second All-Filipino Conference this year after settling for a runner-up finish last March.
