AS matches get tougher with two semifinals slots left, defending champion Petro Gazz seeks to boost its bid when it battles Cignal HD today in the PVL Reinforced Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Angels, currently running third with a 3-1 mark, face the HD Spikers at 2:30 p.m.

Petro Gazz escaped past PLDT 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 27-25 last Saturday for its second straight win.

“Alam naman nila kung gaano ka-importante iyong game sa amin saka nire-remind namin lagi sila na mag-focus sa kung anong nangyayari sa ngayon so nakatulong naman sa kanila,” Angels coach Rald Ricafort said.

“Regardless sa mga pangyayari, kailangan nakatutok talaga kami sa mga instructions at makuha namin iyong panalo. Gusto talaga nila,” he added.

American import Lindsey Vander Weide and locals Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips, Jonah Sabete, Remy Palma, Bang Pineda and Djanel Cheng are expected to soar for the Angels.

Cignal is aiming to keep its semis hope alive with a 2-2 slate.

The HD Spikers notched their second win last Thursday at the expense of hapless United Auctioneers Inc.-Army Lady Troopers 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.

Cignal will pin its hopes on reinforcement Tai Bierria, skipper Rachel Anne Daquis, Ces Molina, Ria Meneses, Roselyn Doria and Jheck Dionela.

In the second match set at 5:30, Akari and PLDT collide.

The Chargers are in seventh spot with a 2-4 record, while the High Speed Hitters are in eighth with a 1-4 card.
