ADAMSON University swept the athletics events in the Navy side while St. Jude College of Quezon City dominated the Air Force competition at the end of athletics action in the Philippine ROTC Games National Capital Region Leg at the Philsports track oval in Pasig City.
Kent Jardin and Denmark Dacunes led the Soaring Falcons with three golds apiece and joined hands in the relay events in a mighty show of firepower in the Naval competition.
Jardin opened the two-day event by ruling the 200-m run with a time of 22.22 seconds while Dacunes topped the 100-m dash in 11:20 seconds.
Jardin and Dacunes combined with John Martin and Alexander Padilla to win the men’s 4x-100-m relay in 44.50 seconds as well as the 4×400-m relay with a clocking of 3.38.87 seconds.
The Adamson Lady Falcons led by Christine Guergio also collected two gold medals in the Navy’s women’s contest, winning the 100-dash in 13.46 seconds and the 200-m run.
The team also triumphed in women’s 4×400-m relay and 4×100-m relay but was not counted as a medal because of lack of competitors. Officials said the Adamson women’s relay team in the 4×100-m and 4×400-m will advance to the national finals on Oct. 22 to 26 in Marikina City.
In all, Adamson amassed a total of eight gold medals in athletics while St. Jude College of Quezon City won six golds.
Other gold medalists were Mac James Angoring of Rizal Technological University in the Army’s 200-m run and Josie Inemendo of University of the Philippines-Diliman in the Army’s women’s 200-m run.
Artuto Ocana also of RTU topped the Army’s 100-m dash in 11.45 seconds and teammate Bernadette Batoy the women’s 100-m category in 14.07.
