A true-blooded Falcon will call the shots for the Adamson University women’s volleyball team after John Philip Yude was named as the new Lady Falcons coach yesterday.
Adamson welcomed Yude in the Lady Falcons’ nest in a social media post, saying: “Congratulations to our very own coach John Philip Yude, the new head coach of our women’s volleyball team. Laban Adamson!”
Yude has been an Adamsonian since his collegiate days, playing for the Adamson men’s volleyball team in the UAAP.
In the 80th season of the UAAP where Yude was the Falcons’ team captain, Adamson finished fifth.
Yude transitioned from a player to coach after handling the Adamson’s girls’ volleyball team.
In the 85th season of the UAAP, Yude guided the Baby Falcons to a bridesmaid finish.
Yude replaced veteran mentor Jerry Yee, also the tactician of reigning two-time NCAA champion College of St. Benilde.
Adamson released Yee five days ago after he opted to return to the PVL and take on the coaching job at Farm Fresh.
With Yee at the helm, the Lady Falcons ended a nine-year Final Four drought and finished the last UAAP women’s volley wars as third placers.
Yude will be handling an Adamson side expected to be led by aces Louie Romero, Kate Santiago, Trisha Tubu and Lucille Almonte next season.
